Whores is a awesome read.
It has a bunch of great pics and gets the story straight for the most part.
It's a shame that it wasn't done with more input from the main players.
It could have been so much better.
Some of the mistakes bother me but I'm a little more educated than most.
I expect Perry will get it right when / if he chooses to write his own bio.
I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Perry, Jane's, etc.
Signed or not it's well worth having.

Whores really wasn't a book. It was a collection of articles and stories and had so many mistakes. Perry can't remember enough to make a book. I liked reading the manuscript thing that one of the Three Days directors did. That was pretty cool insight into the relapse tour.
I just finished Slash's book in 2 days. Very good read. Man, Axl was crazy in a bad way. Keidis's book is the best one on that era that I've read.

lots of books are based around articles...bman wrote:Whores really wasn't a book. It was a collection of articles and stories and had so many mistakes. Perry can't remember enough to make a book. I thought Whores sucked. I think a "book" is different than an article in too many ways to get into, but all in all Whores was really disatisfying experience for me. Jane's deserves an excellent book with interviews from all, and periperals, and cogent and deep insights.
Even though the Slash book was a "book", I thought that sucked too. Couldn't stand the "we'll get to that later" theme that kept appearing. I finished it in a day, and I am still not sure I remember the author ever getting back to any of those subjects. All's good though, either they did and the writing sucked or the topic was so uninteresting that it didn't matter. I'm sure it was both. Too, what is up with the coonstant Axl apologies? He must have said 5 times that 'if you ask Axl, you'll get an entirely different story/interpretaion'.
I agree on Scar Tissue though, with the exception of detailed descriptions of the global conquests. It seemed to be wriiten closest to his "voice", and that made it a seamless read.

I'm kinda surprised by some of the negative thoughts on the book.
I've read it about 10 times and enjoyed it every time.
It's got some great reference material in it.
My only complaints like I said are the few inaccuracies I've noticed.
That and the fact that it could have been better if there had been more involvement with the main players Perry, Eric, Dave and Perk.
