I know it was a Blues Bros quote, but I was responding to hydro.

So do I, but of course the Grateful Dead were hugely influenced by country, bluegrass, and other related forms of rural American music like Appalachian ballads and string bands. I think you may have serious misconceptions about what "country" entails, or, more diplomatically, you may be thinking about some different sort of "country" than I am.

I didnt know it was a Blues Bros quote, ive never seen the movie couldnt tell ya one scene of it  lol

i HATE country music lol but when i think of country music i just think of the modern stuff youd hear on a country station and rednecks which i have plenty living around me in ohio.

I for some reason have a different appriciation for the older stuff that my grandpa listened to like the jimmie rogers stuff (I checked out today jasper) lol and I well i couldnt listen to it for more than a half a song
but i still dig it to a certain point if that makes any sense.

 be sure i have much respect for all forms of northern america's 20th century popular music...

but i must say i usually love rural blues much more than chicago style, for instance. it's just a matter of taste... and more than everything, it depends on the songs.

hydro is right : let's talk about pete's works ! :happydrink:

speaking of porno for pyros Id like to share a memory from my teenage yrs lol I remember going school shopping with my mom, never a pleseant experiance.
it was 1992 the beginning of my 10th grade yr.I had just moved to ohio the year before that from HOUSTON TX and was going to a very small school k-12 th in one school farmer boys and amish girls.
So me and my mom at the mall shopping for school clothes and I remember taking her into a record store and seeing a basic PORNO FOR PYROS t-shirt it was black it had the lil devil on the front and the back said "porno for pyros" I begged and BEGGED my mom for that shirt.thats all i wanted and she wouldnt get it for me I can remember arguing in the store and her saying your not wearing anything that says porno on it
I was like mom its perrys new band its just the name of a BAND  I think i might of had a sit down on the store floor till she agreeded to get me the fucking t-shirt..
wish I still had it :(

Pete mentioned "What I Do" is short because it represents the limited time he has to create music. The length of the song is metaphoric...the slant rhyme of music....designed to leave an emotional impression beyond the music itself.

I have often wondered why musicians don't incorporate more poetic devices into the music. Here, he's a moderninst. Next, who knows.
