Lollapalooza

Post by sean m »

Hey everyone. Has anyone here ever gone to Lolla in Chicago? I'm from NY and the prospect of seeing Jane's, Lou Reed, Tool, and Depeche Mode is very appealing. Does the park get ridiculously overcrowded? I traveled to Coachella back in 01? to see Jane's, is Lolla comparable to coachella in size? I'm just a little nervous about spending a lot of money to get there and not really be able to see, hear, or enjoy the show. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi sean, I haven't been able to make it to Lolla the past two years but when I went in '05 and '06 it was awesome.
Grant Park is beautiful and the city of Chicago at night is a sight to see.
They've been using all of Grant Park since the '06 show and that doubled the size.
It can get a little crowded.
I've never been to Coachella so I can't help you as far as comparing.
I can give you a little advice though.
Wear comfortable shoes and for the bands you really want to see make sure you get to that stage before their time slot starts.
Even if this means missing somebody else's set.

My fingers are crossed I'll be there this year but at this point I dunno.
