I'd say it's safe to make those assumptions.ESFOS wrote:I will assume that NOL is no ones leaving and O is obvious?

I can't remember if I posted it here or over at Xiola but it would be kick ass if they did Obvious and Trent joined them on keys!
I imagine these guys are hanging out and I know Trent said pre-tour there wouldn't be any collaborations but...
Hot damn I can dream can't I!
Sorry for getting off topic a bit but it's really exciting news.
Perk certainly seems to be enjoying himself based on his post.
I hope all of them are having as much fun and that they are rekindling their friendships.

No One's Leaving and Obvious?
far fucking out.
but what would I want replaced?
hmmm.......
No One's Leaving for Ain't No Right ....
Obvious for .... hm. Don't fuck with Three Days or Then She Did, please please please. Hmmm.... Can't fuck with Ted's either. Maybe the 1% Had a Dad slot? God, I'd miss those too.
The problem is... I want every song from every album.
But I NEED Ocean, 3Days, Then She Did, Summertime, actually, I NEED Had a Dad, too.
Yeah I need every song from every album.
There's no way around it. I've been sitting here thinking this through for like 15 minutes.
Jane's, the only thing I'd have to ask, as a favor I guess for liking you so much, would be just to not stop being Jane's, to keep putting new righteous shit out, and touring until your throat explodes, hands fall off, calf muscle rips (wait... no...), fingers bleed. If you can keep being a band, I will keep being a fan. I will do what it takes to keep money in your pocket, food on your table, clothes for the kids, but all you have to do in return is fucking rock my face off until I'm like ... 90. Which would put you into your 100's, some of you, so ... just, be prepared to deal with that.
But that way I could have every song slammed in my face at some point or other. I've never experienced Obvious, My Time, Idiots Rule, um... I guess I could go on, but yeah there are a lot of songs I need to hear live.
Anyway.
Sorry, I'm drunk and I just read that Perky's been practicing up Obvious.
Heh. farfuckin out

I thought they just totally slammed No One's Leaving at El Cid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OipjtFgw0y0
I particularly love the breakdown when Perry screams "how to dress to fit the occasion" with those mad echoes going nuts. Gave me ultra-chills.
This was just a few months ago so I'm sure they could bring it.
Haven't seen Obvious played out for ages upon ages, though. But I totally agree, it would be a great one to have Trent come out and do some keys.
I'm still a little surprised that they're not doing Chip Away, given that it's on the NINJA sampler, and I've had a lot of friends new to Jane's asking why they're not doing it, that it's their favorite song on the sampler.
And I agree hydro, Trip Away is such a high-energy song. I'd love that one live, too. 1% and Trip are equals in my book - Trip is so easy to dance to, but 1% has that awesome punk rock breakdown in the middle of it.
I'm sober now, but I stand by the need to hear every Jane's song ever written, including Strays stuff (love that album too - just wish it didn't have the Jane's Addiction name on it) ........

Is the breakdown not referred to as the 'bridge'? Question for the technical musicians on the board....
This is usually where, in the majority of songs, after the 2nd chorus of a song where you have the bridge between the very last chrous and the last verse and chorus, where your guitar solos, drum fills/rolls, etc...are...
Then I must say that No One's leaving where the brekdown/bridge is may be my favorite of all the Jane's songs...dave kicks off the solo, Perry says "that's right" .....the next 10 seconds are pure mayhem that i consider f'ing bliss....

Couldn't agree more, man. After "that's right" in NOL, Jane's is possessed.
And yeah, I dunno if you call it a bridge or a breakdown, I just always call those massive changes in the middle of a song a breakdown. Jane's is legendary at those.
Some of my favorite mood-changes:
No One's Leaving (just as you described)
Price I Pay (when he goes into "I'm always having a good time")
Ocean Size (they come one after another, like an ocean, brilliant, probably my favorite JA song)
Trip Away (after "way out" and the song calms down - briefly)
1% (the punk rock freakout)
Wrong Girl ("she's like a mother eagle comin' down" - chills every time)
Stop ("one come a day ....")
I'm sure there are others, but these come to mind.
