If they can let me pick the one, this guy I pick to write the bass line for Jane's Addiction.

That wouldn't bother me and I can certainly see your point about the number of bassists the band's gone through.
I saw Chris play with the band twice pack in '03 and thought he did a decent enough job.
My only complaint besides him not being Eric obviously, is that he at times seems to be rigid up there.
His playing is fine but because of his stage presence I think there are people out there who feel as though he's just going through the motions.

I'm not convinced that he's back in the band full time at this point but time as it often does will tell.

Trust me...Chaney is the least Janes of all the bassists! I'd rather see Carl Restivo than Chaney! But unless it's Flea or Eric there's no reason to get excited. I'd rather see some continuity at this point!

I hadn't even considered Carl but I guess he's a possibility.
I know from my talks with him that he's a fan of the band and he's certainly a gifted musician.

I hope Cheney isn't playing in the band. I think they could give it to somebody fresh. Maybe like a David J or Watt. That would be cool.

To all you guys wishing and hoping for Watt to get involved.
Do you think he'd have time seeing as he's actively working with Iggy these days?
I imagine whoever they get is going to have to have considerable free time for touring in the upcoming year and The Stooges have been busy to an extent recently.

Disclaimer: I've not looked to see what's up with The Stooges at the moment / future.

Mike Watt is a cool motherfucker, and I don't think he would ever put himself in that position. The other three would be making the score of the century if they could ever get him to step into that cursed bass spot. He's one of the only bassists left who could make me be slightly less cynical about the prospects of these guys putting out something decent. Jane's needs a strong and creative presence on bass.

Watt being w/ The Stooges and doing his solo stuff seems a much better fit for him, as he gets paid and also gets to be creatively free. He might get paid w/ Jane's, but I think that whatever music those three make at this point in time isn't going to be Watt's style.

Finally, how weird would it be to hear a bunch of Jane's songs where the basslines were written by Dave?
