I have no idea Jimmy but they need somebody and there is the familiarity that he would bring.
Could be.

I am kind of hoping for a new chapter of Jane's... with a new bass player.Mike wrote:I have no idea Jimmy but they need somebody and there is the familiarity that he would bring.

He is way better than Duff in that he actually plays the basslines properly...
I would prefer flea... (this is primarily because he would not be scared to contribute crazy/beautiful ideas fearing the wrath of Perry) unfortunately RHCP are still together..
Ultimately i would prefer Eric over everybody. He listens to our Orphaned siblings too much to even consider it.

At this point...Just keep Chaney on bass for the shows...haven't we gone through enough new bassists...

Are you serious? Eric is his own man. He doesn't need you, me, Perry, xiola.org, Santa Claus, or anyone else to tell him what he's gone through first hand.jimmydeviljames wrote:Ultimately i would prefer Eric over everybody. He listens to our Orphaned siblings too much to even consider it.
As a way to wiggle out of any conflict between Farrell and Avery are you going to resort to the cheap ploy of blaming xiola for Eric's choices? Man up and admit that Eric and Perry can't get along personally or professionally. It is what it is, and it was like that long before any widespread public internet use.

See this, folks? This is how not to underline text. The "u" and "URL" buttons may *look* similar, but at the end of the day, they're really not very similar at all.Jasper wrote:first hand.

i'll take Chaney over Duff any day.Im sure Duff is a cool dude but Chris fits best out of those 2.
but as I've said before Id prefer a no-name.I know nothing much about the technical aspects of playing music
but this kids a lil hottie, looks a lil like Dave back in the day

I like the way this dude moves his fingers on the bass

this dudes really into it

I know im being silly and stupid
but I think it would be cool to have a fresh face,a pure soul and an honest musician that just wants to play music

i like cheney in the band .. they all seem happy and get along .. considering martyn wrote most of strays it might be cool to see what cheney comes up with ... of course the record is already half written by duff and eric .. which seems like it was a result of fans wanting high profile collaborators instead of the strays band. eric has clearly become a sour girl about it all .. oh well

I think Chris seems really cool and I am interested in what he has to offer on any level of new music. The 4 of them together do put off a relaxed and fun energy.TrevorAyer wrote:i like cheney in the band .. they all seem happy and get along .. considering martyn wrote most of strays it might be cool to see what cheney comes up with ... of course the record is already half written by duff and eric .. which seems like it was a result of fans wanting high profile collaborators instead of the strays band.
I still wouldn't say that he is "in the band now" but if he is I would love to hear him write some bad ass bass lines for a new Jane's song and see what he's got

how do I say much when I have so much respect the the 4 original members who's music has been playing through my whole being for 20+yrs???TrevorAyer wrote:eric has clearly become a sour girl about it all .. oh well
I really don't want to loose that respect I have, but this "interview" makes me so sad!

I have learned from Pete that sometimes taking the high road and putting your ego away is the best way!Let your negativity out in a positive way so not to personally hurt others.Make a song, write a poem, paint a picture....

Re: Is Cheney staying in the band now?
Eric & Perry’s relationship went sour years ago, and I think it is a big testament to both guys that they seemed to have at least given “bringing back the old Jane’s” an honest try. It didn’t work out, and that is a shame, but at least they tried. I do think hearing Eric’s perspective on why it didn’t work is really interesting. I think it would be interesting to hear from all the guys about the last tour.
I can see both sides to some of the issues that Eric brought up (namely the using of JA material in side projects). On one side you have the idea of keeping it pure and special, after all I think we’d all prefer to hear Jane’s play Jane’s over anything else. On the flip side, they’re musicians & entertainers who make a living at this, and Jane’s is the music they’re known for and what people come out to hear. I don’t think either side is wrong, although certainly the keeping it special argument has more philosophical appeal. I don’t think any of the guys intentionally disrespected JA’s music with their side projects, and some of it simply comes down to taste and lifestyle decisions.
Obviously it is unfortunate they couldn’t work things out. I’m sure people will take some of Eric’s words as laying the blame at Perry’s feet, but he’s even implied that maybe his approach to some things (new material, etc.) could have been different. In the end, maybe it really just was never meant to be. If you go back to look at old articles about the band, there was always this sense of amazement that these four different guys were not only able to work together, but produce some incredible music. Who knows, but at least we’re here for the ride!
