1986 Recordings

Post by Mike »

Bill's list has only two entries for 1986.

See Bill's list in its entirety here:

http://forums.janesaddiction.org/viewto ... =35&t=1389

The two shows Bill lists are:
09/21/86 LA Street Scene: Los Angeles, CA
analog audience
--------------------------------------------------------------
11/23/86 Pyramid Club: Los Angeles, CA
SBD -> cassette

In our "Tour Dates" section we reference thirteen recordings.
Most of these thirteen dates are shows but a couple of the entries stem from studio time, home demos, etc.

The thirteen entries with recordings attributed to them are as follows:

01/10/1986 - Black Radio Club, Los Angeles, CA
http://janesaddiction.org/tour/tour_det ... tourID=407

01/??/1986 - Radio Tokyo, Venice, CA

http://janesaddiction.org/tour/tour_det ... tourID=726

http://janesaddiction.org/tour/tour_det ... tourID=411

10/01/1986 - Club Lingerie, Hollywood, CA
http://janesaddiction.org/tour/tour_det ... tourID=412

11/13/1986 - The Pyramid, Los Angeles, CA
http://janesaddiction.org/tour/tour_det ... tourID=415

12/15/1986 - KXLU Loyola Marymount College Radio, Los Angeles, CA

12/19/1986 - Lhasa Club, Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA
http://janesaddiction.org/tour/tour_det ... tourID=417

Let me please say two things before we go any further.

1.) I am not in possession of all of the above recordings.
2.) I know some of the info above is incorrect.
Correcting what's wrong is the purpose of this section.

If you have any info on any of these recordings please post your info in this thread.
If you have a correction please post that in this thread too.

Please don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings in this thread / section either.

Once again the purpose of this section is to correct misinformation and add to our database.

Your help is encouraged and appreciated. :)

This is a "holy grail" type recording for me, and I know a fair amount about it. First of all, it's not Ed and Matt. It's Stephen and Dave. The full tape is 60 minutes (only 18 have been "leaked" among fans), and some songs feature no guitar, just Perry and Eric teaching Stephen the songs. I think that's why they bothered taping the rehearsal, so Stephen could listen back. It's a safe bet the location is the Wilton House, eh? As for gen, well, Stephen's master > friend of the band > fan who got ahold of it > fan who digitalized it.. I guess that makes the circulated recording 3rd gen. Recording equipment, probably just a boombox-type stereo in the room recording onto cassette.

Ha, the mythical "Top 40 Club" show. It kinda bugs me that I'm the source for this (btw, I'd prefer being credited to somediverswhistle.com if it's all the same). I think Mike has brought the legitimacy of this show into question, and I won't argue it. A guy told me about it once and I believed him. But who knows, his memory might've gotten it confused. If there's no other somewhat-reliable source for this, I'd just assume remove it from the listing. And I've never heard of any recording existing of this show. I'd venture that it was confused for another early Janes show (Raji's 4/86?) or another show in Orange (such as 3/29/87 Goodies).

Again, probably a boombox in the middle of the Wilton House garage or living room.. Perry and Dave working on a new song. There's a girl there who Perry talks with at one point.. doesn't really sound like Casey.. maybe Jane? Xiola? Again, circulated recording probably 3rd gen.

Awesome info interwoven and exactly the kind of stuff I'm hoping this section will continue to generate.

I will begin making corrections based on your info shortly.

Video:

That list was pilfered using archive.org

You can visit it here:

http://web.archive.org/web/200202030232 ... index.html

I'm sure you're very familiar with it seeing as you're one of the dozen or so credited with creating it.

There's lots of good info on that list but just like everything else it needs some tlc.
It's eight years old after all.

Questions forthcoming.
I'm going to get the three you supplied info on updated first though.

Thanks again! :thumb:

My memory is a little hazy, but I think you got "auxiliary" credit on that while I was trying to clean up the multiple lists that were going around for all the live shows JA did. So that may go all the way back to before you registered SDW :hehe:

I do know that we've come a long way since those days :thumb:

11/13/86 its mentioned that Daves 4 track is much higher in quality, when in fact its much worst sounding than the CD bootleg versions. Just an FYI.

Re: 1986 Recordings

I started updating some shows the day before yesterday with the info I gathered from this thread.

Yesterday stopped me in my tracks but before I go any further I wanted to let you guys know that helicine and I are discussing implementing some bells and whistles that should make sorting the listing a whole new ballgame.

Right now you can only sort out the cancelled shows.
What we're talking about doing is making it much more sortable.

For example we cold have categories for the following:

Shows
Studio
Rehearsal
TV

You get the point I'm sure.

I've mentioned my fondness for this Zeppelin site countless times before:

http://www.royal-orleans.com/

I have blatantly stolen some of the ideas for our forum from there.

This is another Zeppelin site I like to visit:

http://www.ledzeppelin-reference.com/

If you checkout that link it will give you some idea of the things that are possible.
I'm not saying we're going to steal what they have there lock, stock, and barrel but some of their ideas jive with what helicine and I think will be good with the site.

Jane's after all have been compared to the Zeps for like forever.
They may as well have a site as good or better than the Zeps.
