Earlier this year, Yoko Ono revived the Plastic Ono Band for a special engagement in New York that saw the likes of Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Bette Midler and an impressive list of musicians all join in on the action. However, when Ono brought the new version of her Plastic Ono Band -- featuring musical director Sean Lennon -- to the Bay Area for a one-off gig shortly thereafter, it was a scaled-down affair that was stripped of the special guests.
But now the West Coast will get its due: Ono will bring her 'We Are Plastic Ono Band' show to Los Angeles for the first two nights of October, and she's bringing out a virtual parade of marquee guests for the affair. They include: Lady Gaga, Iggy Pop, Perry Farrell, the RZA, Wilco's Nels Cline, and both Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth.
The shows will take place at the Orpheum Theater in L.A. and tickets are on sale now. For full details, including the specific unique lineup for the two separate shows, visit Ono's Imagine Peace website. All we're saying is ... give it a chance.
I was there last night, front row. It was amazing. Perry did yoko's song "the sun is down" and then EVERYONE did give peace a chance at the end in which some of the guest stars including perry and iggy made their own verses to make it relevant to today's news and events. It was spectacular.
