UK 12 track promo CD 'Sampler'

Hi there

I picked a copy of 'sampler' a 12 track promo cd put out via universal music publishing in the uK

i don't know the release date but it has 3 tracks from strays so obviously it's mid to late 2000's

it isnt the condensed box set disc or the live and rare set

it kicks off with just because and finishes with jane says, each track has a percentage figure after it's title which i guess is a publishing royalty rate but i could be wrong.

Anybody else heard of this anomoly?

What is really interesting about this promo is that Jane's has never been signed to any UMG label.

NS & Ritual were under Warners, Strays was under Capitol (which is part of EMI)

In fact, I'm not sure any of them have been signed to a UMG label - but have worked with the other big 3 and indies.

Satellite Party - Columbia (Sony BMG)
Panic Channel - Capitol (EMI)

Polar Bear, Avery solo, Banyan, etc. - all those were on indie labels.

So maybe it is a bootleg promo? Maybe the band used it to try and jump to another label and get them to buy out their Capitol contract?
