Perry and Etty Farrell Vs. Chris Cox @ We Are Golden!
September 20, 2010 in Artists, Events, News
Perry and Etty Farrell’s commitment to electronic music went to an even higher level with the return of the year’s most anticipated event, Lollapalooza, on August 6, 7 and 8 at Chicago’s Grant Park.In addition to the annual festival’s incredible line-up (Soundgarden, Green Day, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Phoenix, MGMT and more), their non-stop electronic and dance music stage known as “Perry’s” was even bigger in 2010 and included the introduction of their new dance project called “Precision Guided Musicians” aka PGM.
The area highlighted the North American debut of Empire of the Sun as well as a performance by their new musical act “Perry-Etty vs. Chris Cox” which was amongst a line-up of superb electronic artists like Digitalism, Kaskade, 2ManyDJs and Felix da Housecat, to name a few. Be on the look-out for more PGM announcements in the near future.
On September 27th at 8pm, Open Artists are going to blow the house apart with glittering golden goodness. For one night, some of the nation’s top musicians, choreographers and celebrities will join forces for a star-studded concert benefiting the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s LifeWorks youth development program. The event will be held at the Arena Nightclub, and will feature an eclectic evening of music, dance, comedy and special performances. Directed by Lee Cherry and Kevin Stea. Director of Choreography is Scott Hislop.
Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Etty Farrell and Chris Cox (Thunderpuss) will headline a special Glam Rock concert for charity in LA tonight, September 27.
We Are Golden will take place at the Arena Nightclub to benefit LifeWorks, a youth program at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center.
This is a star-studded event with outrageously funny Alec Mapa as host. Jody Watley (Grammy award winning R&B/jazz artist) brings her groove to an exclusive performance for the VIP Lounge. Carmit (solo artist formerly of The Pussycat Dolls) and the Beat Freaks (MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew) amp up the show and keep the audience rocking. Kina (Brownstone, “Girl in the Gutter”) tears it up with an entire Stomp the Yard crew. Experience vogue-ball culture in its most celebrated form as Grandfather Hector Xtravaganza brings together the children of the House of Xtravaganza for an out-of-this-world ball battle to be judged by world-renowned choreographer, Brian Friedman (X-Factor).
For tickets and a full update of performer listings, go to www.lagaycenter.org/WeAreGolden. Besides having the time of your life, you will also be supporting LifeWorks’ mentoring programs, scholarships, and after-school workshops for LGBTQ (Q is for Questioning) youth. Most LGBT youth still suffer the effects of homophobia – rejection, violence, depression and suicide rates – in unacceptable numbers. To learn how you can help, please visit www.LifeWorksLA.org.
Any idea what time they are going on? I was lucky enough to get tickets for Soundgarden's surprise show tonight at 8, but I may be able to make it to this too if its late enough.
