The Great Escape Artist - Album Art

Post by Mike »

The Great Escape Artist is due to street come September 26th and Perry's working on the album art.

Perry's wife Etty tweeted the following photo tonight:

It looks like Perry is working with some type of modeling clay.
What's curious to me is the fact that the laptop screen is displaying the Ritual cover.

I think it's important for Perry to have his hands in the art. Happy to see him working on it and being creative:) seeing them with the clay tells me, it will not be a band picture cover but one with design.
It's gotta be a fun and rewarding process making an album.Lots of time and hard work but to have a finished product must feel amazing!

Yeah Dave said on Dark Matter recently that Perry was going to do it.
I just think it's cool to get a peek albeit a small one into the process.

I'm not one of the people that was bothered by the cover of Strays but when you're following up the eponymous, Nothing's Shocking, and Ritual covers whatever you do is going to be judged against those.

I just hope Perry creates something he's proud of and that it's something the fans feel they can get behind and love.

Based on the following tweet by Etty I guess it's safe to say the reason for the album's release date being pushed back to October 18th is the album art isn't done yet or the label just got it.

I woke up from a nap to @janesaddiction "Great Escape Artist" blasting & men in house. Album cover being created.

Definitely looking forward to checking out the cover art! Hope Perry is able to create something as epic/iconic as Nothing's Shocking and Ritual!

Sooo, the new album cover looks like RDLH?

I doubt the new album art will cause a riff in the music biz like NS or RDLH did, jus sayin'

Yes...the album has been delayed due to a photo taken of nothing more than a few lights in a room that shows nothing, why would she tweet a pic of a room with a few lights? I see no "clay animation". Not being a hater just sayin'.

Because she's showing that they're making the cover without spoiling the official unveiling of it. Pretty simple.

I think it would be a lot harder to do that now than it did back then. The music biz, hell the world in general, is just a difference place now. The PMRC is dead. Local record stores are, for the most part, dead. Album artwork and liner notes are just not as important anymore as physical delivery is no longer a necessity for music.

I just figured Perry was using that picture to explain to his boys what he was doing.
I'm pretty sure the kids are in first and third grade so it just makes sense that he'd do that.
At least that's what I'm thinking based on my dealings with my Son when he was around that age.

As far as the new album cover art causing a riff as you say I guess that remains to be seen.
I just hope that whatever Perry has come up with that he and the rest of the guys stick to their guns and don't cave to the suits at Capitol like they did for the Strays cover art.
