Porno For Pyros Demo Tape

Post by Shroomy »

Porno For Pyros demo tape
The rare songs from the late 90's right before Perry disbanded Porno!
If you saw them up for auction on ebay from a verifiable source how much would you bid on them? These probably won't ever be officially released making them very very valuable. If the songs had drums, bass guitar, guitar and vocals I would bid up to two grand. But if they had just guitar and vocals I'd pay up to $1000.

You're nutz!!
First of all there is no demo. Pete has some rough ideas of songs that he recorded on a cassette player!

Hey bman I'm nuts huh? Read this and you'll see what i'm talking about
Perry: Pete’s got stuff from Porno that he gave to me on a cassette. Its God awful because we were just so high and so terribly stung out that none of us could play very well. It was only… we were practicing on a cassette that’s how long ago this was. You know he wants me to record and finish… do more Porno stuff. I would get together with Pete at a certain point and absolutely do that. We have to wait a little bit. I have to work this project and get this project cooking

Pete: Whatever Perry Farrell wants to call it, we have a record. We have these songs- Little Me, Fingernails, Val Knows How To Milk A Cow. These tunes that are just great and they were written in that era that has that vibe and there’s no way that we could live like we were living then to come up with songs now like that. So they're there. God, they're beautiful pieces of work and I would like to record them with Perry. My song New Day was one of them, that was going to be a Porno for Pyros song. It’s on my first record. That was one called Individuality. SO, we might revisit that song and it will just be familiar to New Day. It will sound like New Day. You know, the guitar part... So, I'm trying to not use them. But they are so great they need to come out of me. I can't keep holding them in. But, I'd like to do Individuality again. And then there was a song that we used on Rambient with Flea called Birth of a Girl. That was called Thanksgiving. Because the songs are the songs, they're there

demo
pronunciation
(dĕm'ō)

n. Informal., pl. -os.
A demonstration, as of a product or service.
A brief tape or recording illustrating the abilities of a musician or other performer.
Demo may refer to:
Demo (music), a song recorded for reference rather than release
Song titles and the band laying down their ideas sounds like a demo to me. Maybe not a complete demo in a recording studio but who cares. Sounds good enough for me. I have demos of the two porno albums that sound recorded on a cheap tape recorder too and they are choppy but still good.

I'm saying it's nutz to pay 1G for some bad sounding stuff. That first p4p demo is god awful.
But hey, this is coming from someone who flew from NYC to San Diego for an hour long SP set!

Ney York to San Diego is like a 5 hour flight, 10 hour round trip. Was it a good show? I know people who camp outside ticketmaster all night long just to get some front row tickets. And my ex girlfriend went on a road trip once following Marilyn Manson for a month to see every show. I love Porno For Pyros. I know they are pretty much defunct for good. Anything left over from their psychedelic period is worth a lot to me. Like Pete said, they couldn't write those types of songs today. I think all the drug use gave the music an edge that they don't have now. I love the stream of consciousness stuff.
Incomplete or complete or whatever poor quality. Thats just me though.

So now the 3rd pfp is acoustic songs? I had heard it was more electronic.

I don't think there's much chance you'll ever run across this item on ebay.
It's in the hands of the band members and I'm sure that's where it will remain.

Shroomy, since you said IF I'll play along.
I would bid as much as I could afford to bid.
Which is what i do when i bid on other items.

Sometimes it's enough and sometimes it's not.

Rather than wish the demo tape winds up on ebay I'm going to wish that someday the band reform, record the songs, and tour.

You must be thinking of the satellite party demo. That was electronic.
Agua is an acoustic song but the others we don't know enough about. According to Pete they do indeed have the vibe of classic Porno we all know and love.

I think and I hate to try to figure out what others are thinking.
But I think Shroomy is referring to the Satellite Party songs that were up on the Lollapalooza website back in 2005.

As far as I know they're the only early mixes / demos of any Satellite Party songs out there.

I think we've had them posted in the share section of this site at one point or another.
If you don't have them let me know.
