The Reformation

Post by SR »

"Inside Temperature" reminds me of a post mortum liver probe thermometer.

Thoughts on a the original 4?

I say there's only two people on the planet that can make this happen, probably with different agendas.....can they be made to reconcile?

from Mikes interview with perry..
Mike: Alright we’re going to go back to the Jane’s Addiction days for a second here. nexis asks this question. What would it take for you and Eric Avery to make up and become friends again?

Perry: So Eric Avery, great bass player. You know I don’t know. I can’t speak for Eric. I only can speculate why Eric doesn’t want to get involved in things I do. You know we didn’t have an easy time of it. We went definitely, definitely in different directions. During the Jane’s days he got… he had a very different outlook on life. He had a tough time of it for a while and came out of it and just decided to go the clean and sober route. You got to wish him well and let him do his thing.

Mike: Absolutely.

Perry: But I would invite him to join Jane’s and maybe he didn’t want to go through it? You know I still party and I’m not about to stop. I’m sure that being around people that party sometimes can be… especially if you’re not partying… I don’t know it can probably be annoying or whatever and it could be that. Also I do like to have things my way. I’m a sharing guy but I definitely have very strong opinions about things and maybe that has a lot to do with it too. Eric is a very smart guy too and so… probably there’s always a power struggle when you have two strong willed / strong minded guys with strong opinions and he’s an intelligent guy too. It could be that but again like I say I don’t know. You could probably ask Eric and he’ll probably be able to tell you a lot better than me. I always thought that we should continue to play together for a time but I gave up.

Mike: Fair enough. Fair enough.

I'd give EA a little more credit; I think his 17 years of objections have merit, although I did see a topic of "conditional forgiveness" addressed recently that made me think deeper, look closer.

I have never seen that interview...I thought I'd read all of Mike's Q & A's. In part...revealing, alarming, and predictable.

I understand SR, I certainly respect his sobriety and wouldnt want anyone to do drugs or drink if thats not whats best for them.

I just mean......its just music man.

music is fun, theres enough seriousness in this world..

im moving today so im really busy. I dont have time to think clearly :(

i guess if eric would of just done what ever anyone wanted him to do I wouldnt have the same respect for him.EA is very cool for that.

I love them all as a group.
with that said PERRY is my man and he can do no wrong :kiss4p:

Yeah it's kind of like CSI JA or NCIS JA. ;)

In regards to a reformation.
I think Eric and Perry did their best work together.
Let's face it, a great deal of the Jane's cannon was written by the two.
I think they bring out the best of one another and are good sound boards for each other.

I haven't seen Dave play since September of 2003.
Despite all the nonsense people like to talk about him the guy is a genius on guitar.
I don't believe he's lost anything but can he be convinced to be more than a "rock player"?
Where are the less is more moments when you listen to The Panic Channel?

Perk is Perk and nothing has changed with him.
He's still as rock solid as ever.
When I saw him with Hellride back in 2005 it was the closest I've been to his kit since 1988.
The rest of the band might want to consider taking away that second kick drum he used at the NME Awards Show ala what Page, Plant, and Jones did to one John Bonham.
He doesn't need it.

I think we as fans have to believe there's some reason why the four didn't get back together before the NME gig.
What if it's as simple as Eric has said?

Maybe. It's hard to impugn EA's comments on the subject; I believe them at face value. I think it's what has not been said that needs to be addressed as well. I think one of the many fine qualitites that EA has demonstrated over the years is his ability to be diplomatic and minimize drama. We all have our shit, and PF is no different. I think his treatment of EA was dispicable to the extent that very little credit or decision making power was distributed to his deserved position. Whatever the reasons, however well intended, whatever the success it yielded, it caused damage. What a gift it would be to allocate unreservedly and unconditionally that stolen gem?

We got a new car recently and the sound system is dope. My family gave me a GC to GC and my kiddo and I were on the way down to pick up some gear. Jane's was on and I got into the groove and said "no matter what, if the the original 4 get back together.....we're going front row center". I'd love him to see a healthy Jane. As for DN, yup he's an amazng player, but I'd rather sit on EA's side.

Everyone's having lunch with Amelia Earhart and Jimmy Hoffa?

:crickets:

Don't mean to be strident...just some thoughts on what's going on right now and what are likely obsticles to new music and the road.
