Yesterday stopped me in my tracks but before I go any further I wanted to let you guys know that helicine and I are discussing implementing some bells and whistles that should make sorting the listing a whole new ballgame.

Right now you can only sort out the cancelled shows.
What we're talking about doing is making it much more sortable.

For example we cold have categories for the following:

Shows
Studio
Rehearsal
TV

You get the point I'm sure.

I've mentioned my fondness for this Zeppelin site countless times before:

http://www.royal-orleans.com/

I have blatantly stolen some of the ideas for our forum from there.

This is another Zeppelin site I like to visit:

http://www.ledzeppelin-reference.com/

If you checkout that link it will give you some idea of the things that are possible.
I'm not saying we're going to steal what they have there lock, stock, and barrel but some of their ideas jive with what helicine and I think will be good with the site.

Jane's after all have been compared to the Zeps for like forever.
They may as well have a site as good or better than the Zeps.
This sounds great man!!! Keep up the great work. It's well over due in the Janes community.

Let me know if I can help you out with anything bro.

Thanks Charles!

As far as helping just keep doing what you're doing.
All the info is much appreciated and very helpful.

I may know a little about the when and where aspects of Jane's tour history but I can and do learn a lot from folks like you and intertwoven.
Charles wrote: 11/13/86 its mentioned that Daves 4 track is much higher in quality, when in fact its much worst sounding than the CD bootleg versions. Just an FYI.
Whenever I listen to this show I reach for my Live and Profane boot too.
While not as complete as Dave's source I too think it sounds better.

I don't know if it's because of the transfer or the source itself.

It could be that Dave's source is from a monitor mix and the boots are from the front of hall mix of the SBD. :noclue:

Something I've thought of doing for a while now is making a collage of the two sources.

For those unfamiliar with a collage what I mean is take the boot source and add what it's missing from Dave's tape.
This way we'd have a more complete show where most of it at least would be taken from the best possible source.

I'm 99% certain I'll be in possession of a new PC next moth and I want to put audacity on it to do this type of thing.

That would be really cool. Daves 4 track only has Summertime at the end and it cuts half way through. Daves 4-track also has a lot of tape hiss to it. And its low in the mix. Not even close to the quality of the boots. So your not really missing much. But I would like to hear that if you end up doing it.

if i remember right, it also opens with "slow divers" (start cut), and "jane says" (after "my time").. not sure why they were cut from Live & Profane. but yeah, it'd be cool to frankenstein-up a "best/most complete" version.

Yes, that would be cool to patch this one and the 1/26/87.

The promised upgrades have been implemented.
There's still plenty of work to do but it's a huge step in the right direction.

All thanks should go to Erik. :worship:

janesaddiction.org wrote:This is actually a Jane's Rehearsal with Ed Dobrydnio on guitar and Matt Chaikin on drums. The recording has been passed around, thus the listing here. The recording is roughly 18 minutes long.
This is a "holy grail" type recording for me, and I know a fair amount about it. First of all, it's not Ed and Matt. It's Stephen and Dave. The full tape is 60 minutes (only 18 have been "leaked" among fans), and some songs feature no guitar, just Perry and Eric teaching Stephen the songs. I think that's why they bothered taping the rehearsal, so Stephen could listen back. It's a safe bet the location is the Wilton House, eh? As for gen, well, Stephen's master > friend of the band > fan who got ahold of it > fan who digitalized it.. I guess that makes the circulated recording 3rd gen. Recording equipment, probably just a boombox-type stereo in the room recording onto cassette.
I've updated this shows info page based on your post.
I still have to go back and add more detailed recording info.
I'll do that as soon as I make up my mind how I want to phrase it.

Take a look and let me know if everything is as it should be or if there's anything you think I need to change.
Thanks again for the info.

One more thing I almost forgot to mention.
I wholeheartedly agree that the venue as it were for this recording is The Wilton House.

If you look at my gig listing in the Chip Away section you'll notice these rehearsals aren't on it.
The reason for that is I was only concentrating on actual shows.

Anyway The Wilton House it is!

Looks good. spotted a typo in the setlist: Suffer Song instead of Suffer Some.
I've got some more thoughts on this early '86 history, but it's late so I'll save them for another time.

LOL Yeah I see that now!
It wasn't me but I just fixed it.

Thanks for pointing it out. :thumb:

Ha, the mythical "Top 40 Club" show. It kinda bugs me that I'm the source for this (btw, I'd prefer being credited to somediverswhistle.com if it's all the same). I think Mike has brought the legitimacy of this show into question, and I won't argue it. A guy told me about it once and I believed him. But who knows, his memory might've gotten it confused. If there's no other somewhat-reliable source for this, I'd just assume remove it from the listing. And I've never heard of any recording existing of this show. I'd venture that it was confused for another early Janes show (Raji's 4/86?) or another show in Orange (such as 3/29/87 Goodies).
Hey intertwoven, I made some changes to this shows page.
Let me know what you think when you get a chance to check it out.
I added some of the info about it that I previously mentioned here.

I also based on that info and what you said did the following.
I changed this shows status from unconfirmed to disputed.
I also moved the recording that was attributed to it to the April 26, 1986 show.
Lastly I changed the way you are credited.

I hope I got everything right and that it's OK.
Let me know.
